Katie M Beckmann

Katie works at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), UK, as a Veterinary and Wildlife Health Officer (part-time). Katie is also studying part-time for a PhD at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London, the WWT, and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL): her research is using UK reintroduction projects for the common crane (Grus grus) and corncrake (Crex crex) as case studies by which to review disease risk analysis and health management planning for wildlife reintroduction projects. Katie has worked at WWT since 2012, and was a wildlife veterinarian at the Institute of Zoology, ZSL, from 2008–2012 and 2013–2014, where she worked on disease surveillance projects for British wildlife species and carried out disease risk analysis and health management for Natural England’s Species Recovery Programme and for wildlife conservation NGOs. Katie was awarded a Diploma in Wildlife Population Health from the European College of Zoological Medicine in 2014, and completed an MSc in Wild Animal Health at the ZSL and RVC in 2007.
